Shape the future with us – we're hiring a Machine Learning Engineer
Ready to make an impact in aquaculture tech? Your journey starts with us!

Join us in transforming aquaculture with AI and cutting-edge technology!
OptoScale is transforming aquaculture with AI-driven computer vision and embedded technology. Our Bioscope is an advanced underwater camera system that captures real-time data from thousands of fish every day, enabling farmers to make data-driven decisions to improve sustainability, fish welfare, and operational efficiency.
By combining cutting-edge hardware with powerful machine learning algorithms, we provide unprecedented insights into fish growth, health, and lice status — transforming manual sampling into fully automated, continuous monitoring.
Our solutions are already making a real difference in the industry. As we continue to grow, we’re excited to expand our AI & Optics team with a new colleague.

About the role
As a Machine Learning Engineer at OptoScale, you will join our AI & Optics team — a brilliant and dedicated group with strong backgrounds in physics, mathematics, cybernetics, and marine technology. Together, they develop our underwater imaging system and the data science algorithms that power our solutions.
You'll make a valuable impact in our team, contributing by:
- Diving deep into machine learning, refining models or creating new ones to tackle image recognition challenges
- Driving improvements in existing products and exploring new opportunities
- Crafting practical solutions through programming and deploy them seamlessly into production
This role will be a great fit if you are excited about:
- Deep learning for image applications
- 3D imaging and stereo vision
- Edge computing

What we’re looking for
You have a curious mind and a strong background in machine learning and computer vision. We believe you’ll thrive in this role if you:
- Hold an MSc or PhD in physics, mathematics, computer science, cybernetics, or a related field
- Have experience in computer vision, data analytics, and statistics
- Are proficient in Python software development
- Are motivated to learn and continuously develop your skills — motivation and willingness to grow can compensate for lack of experience
About us
At OptoScale, we don’t just work – we innovate, challenge norms, and have fun while doing it. From designing advanced hardware to developing intelligent software and supporting our customers, we’re shaping the future of aquaculture tech.
Being part of OptoScale means you’ll:
