OptoScale is looking for a driven and knowledgeable colleague to lead our strategic expansion into land-based salmon farming – including hatcheries, large smolt facilities, and full-scale on-land production. In case you don’t know us yet: OptoScale is a Trondheim-based technology company that develops solutions that help fish farmers make better decisions, in the pursuit of optimizing fish farming. To do this we have developed custom camera systems with machine vision, and use AI to provide real-time measurements of fish. We monitor and report on growth and a range of health indicators in salmon, and our solutions are already in use across markets including Norway, Iceland, Chile, Canada, Scotland, and Tasmania. Our technology is already operational on land, and we see significant potential for developing new solutions that support both smolt and on-land salmon production.

In this role, you’ll get:

• Advancing the field: Prioritizing insights and input to strengthen the discipline, boost competitiveness, and enhance customer value
• Understanding needs: Working closely with both customers and internal teams to understand needs and contribute to further development and new solutions
• Using data wisely: Analyzing data to identify new opportunities and improvements
• Leading development: Taking solutions from the idea stage to market launch – and beyond
• Supporting and guiding: Ensuring everyone is on board and engaged throughout the journey

You’re likely a good fit if you also:

• Have experience with or solid knowledge of land-based salmon production or hatcheries: A deep understanding of our customers is key to success
• Hold relevant education: Whether technical or biological, we’re looking for someone with strong professional skills who can apply their knowledge in the role
• Speak fluent Norwegian and are comfortable working in English: Most of our current customers are based in Norway, but the market is international. Internally, we’re multilingual and much of our collaboration happens in English
